The easiest foreign language to learn is one that shares common roots with your own. Most languages fall into certain groups. It is relatively easy to study a language similar to your own, or similar to another language that you already have some experience with. For example, French and Spanish are close cousins of English. You will probably find it easy to deduce the meanings of many words on your own. If you have studied a little French or Spanish, then you should not have any trouble transitioning to Italian. If you study one, then switch to any of the others, you will find remarkable similarities.

Even if the words seem completely foreign, the sentence patterns will be the same. At some level, you will have an intuitive sense of how things go together. This makes it much easier to learn a closely related language rather than one from a unrelated lineage such as Swahili or Japanese.

Are their many resources available in your target language? This is an important factor in choosing a language. The easiest language to learn also has a lot of resources available. If you go to a bookstore or search at a library, can you find books, dictionaries, and phrase books in your target language? If you look on-line, can you find websites, podcasts, and other material in the language? If you search around, can you find movies dubbed in the language? Finally, are their native speakers to practice with? There are all important things to consider. The easiest foreign language to learn will be one where you have access to native speakers and a good selection of reference material.

Finally, do you have a strong motivation to learn the language? For instance, why would you want to devote a lot of time to learning Korean if you have no interest in ever going to that part of the world? But if you are enthralled by the sound of Italian, love pasta, long to explore Cinque Terre, and fantasize about becoming romantically involved with an Italian, then choosing Italian is probably a no-brainer. The easiest foreign language is one that you really want to learn.

Having strong motivations on many different levels to learn a language is crucial to your success. It will keep you motivated, keep things fun, and keep you going through the rough patches. Language learning is like any other skill. You have to work at it. Like anything else, you have to develop strength in it. Learning one language will in turn make it easier to learn the next language. Start with an easy language and and build up to the harder languages later on.

If you’re wondering how you can learn a new language as easily as possible, here are a few great tips and techniques that can help you to quickly learn the language of your choice.

1. Practice with Someone Who Knows the Language

Practicing with someone who knows the language already is a great idea if you want to learn a new language quickly. Whether it is a friend or someone that you work with, their knowledge can help you in many ways. Take the time to talk with them on a regular basis so you can practice your skills and learn more about speaking the language from them.

2. Research the Language

Researching the language is an important tip as well. Find out all you can about the inflection used in the language, where it has it’s origins, learn the culture of the people, and anything else that you think may help you learn. Often a bit of research can go a long way.

3. Remember it Takes Time

When it comes to learning a foreign language, you need to realize that it is going to take you some time to do so. Don’t expect it to happen over night. Whether you are learning from tapes, going with great software like Rocket Languages or Tell Me More, or working through some workbooks, it’s going to take some time to really learn the language.

4. Enhance Your Vocabulary

Make sure that you take the time to enhance your vocabulary as well when you are working on a new language. After all, your vocabulary is going to be the base for speaking the language. If you don’t expand your vocabulary, you’ll have a hard time really learning the language.

5. Learn Online

Learning online is a great option available. There are foreign language software programs that you can use online and online based programs as well. These programs are some of the most flexible programs out there that will help you to learn quickly. If you have the internet, this is a wonderful option.

Using these techniques when learning a foreign language is important if you want to be able to learn quickly. Employ these tips and techniques and you’ll find that you’ll be able to pick up the language quickly and you’ll learn it well.

Adults learn languages slowly because for many, their brains have absorbed all the information that they can handle. Children, however, are quite the opposite. Their brains are thirsting for knowledge, and absorb languages, such as French, with an astonishing rapidity.

Studies show that children learn language skills many times faster than the average adult. Learning to speak French, or any other second language, at an early age is important and has become very popular because globalization is right around the corner.

Because children learn language skills so easily, some parents are introducing a second language to their children themselves, such as French learning, instead of waiting for when they begin school. Studies have shown that a child of about 6 weeks of age can begin to learn small phrases from more than one language.

While no child can speak at that age, when they do speak, they can speak both languages. Because children start learning language skills at birth, they do have the capacity to learn more than one language at once without confusion. Your two year old might speak English, yet can learn how to speak French as well!

Some parents don’t even wait until their children are school aged before teaching them a second language, such as French. Children learn language skills easily at an incredibly young age. Even a child as young as six weeks of age can be taught words from the French vocabulary or other language.

Many people do not believe that a baby can learn how to speak French or even their native language at such a young age, but it is true. The basis for language starts from the very beginning of life. It is just as easy to teach a baby French and English at the same time, as it is to just teach them just their native vernacular. Their brain will absorb both languages with equally amazing competence.

Now, there are even schools designed for babies to help them learn foreign languages. Because of the huge benefits to the child, these schools are now quite popular. Most of these schools have a very high success rate and these facts can be attributed to the fact that children learn language skills so quickly and easily.

Some areas of the world do not offer classes for foreign languages, such as French for babies and small children. For these unlucky people, it would be advisable to start a language program in your own home because learning how to speak French and other languages is such a developmental boost for children.
